Four Generations Strong
While the Charles King Company wasn’t officially established until 1997, Butch (Charles) King’s father, Morey King, began his journey toward what would become the family business in the 1940s, working with J.W. Stang in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1953, Morey was chosen to head J.W. Stang’s California operations, and the King family headed west. Four generations later, the Charles King Company and family continue to proudly serve municipalities and businesses across Southern California.
Morey continued with his success through the ’50s and ’60s, and in 1968, Morey and Butch decided to start their own business together, King Pump and Dewatering Corporation.
They were involved in some of the largest pipeline infrastructure projects throughout the ’70s and 80s. Butch started another venture, CK Pump and Dewatering, which focused on General Engineering and Pipeline Construction in Southern California.
In 1997, Charles King Company was started by Butch and Debbie King to focus on the sewer bypass, pipeline, and pump rental markets. With a rich history in pumps, bypass, and pipeline construction, Charles King Company has built a reputation as Southern California’s go-to pumping contractor. Some of CKC’s employees today include several of Morey King’s great-grandchildren.
